Small Drops, Big Impact: 
​The Story Behind Charm Impact

There was once a forest that caught fire, and all of the animals fled the forest and stood watching as it started to burn. Up shot one solitary hummingbird that flew to a nearby lake, filled its beak with water, and came back to put a couple of drops on the fire. It kept going backwards and forwards adding its drops, as the other animals stood there, doing nothing. They shouted at the hummingbird, “You are so small, you cannot make a difference!” The hummingbird turned to them without pausing and said, “I may not be doing much, but I am doing the best I can, and isn’t that what we should all be doing?” 

We see this as a powerful allegory, illustrating how we often feel powerless in the face of mitigating the effects of climate change. But imagine if there were hundreds, thousands, or even millions of hummingbirds adding their drop to the fire—then they could make a real impact.
